PEACE BE STILL
It is the dawn of a new day; It is early morning. You arise and are in a gray area, and you wonder, God, what is this? Thoughts of yesterday are flooding your mind; worry and concern want to take a place like a drippy faucet, drip, drip, drip, drip, drip, and concerns about today are swirling around like fruit flies over a banana. You feel weighted down, heavy, irritated, and looking for a solution. Is that you right now?
There is a solution in God's word. Everything we need, and for every question, the answer is in the word of God. God knows where we are at every hour, every minute, and every second of our lives. He knows we will have days like this, and he is not shocked by it at all, but he gives us comfort and strengthens us through his word.
I am remembering the story of Jesus on the boat with his disciples, in Matthew 8:23-27
23 Then he got into the boat, and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly, a furious storm appeared on the lake, and the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25 The disciples woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”26 He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”
Mark 4:39 reads that Jesus rebuked the wind, saying PEACE BE STILL and the wind died down entirely still.
Jesus rebukes those forces that grieve and trouble us; he knows they exist. I am charging you with this: Don't you feel guilty or condemned about them either. But we do know just from what Jesus said to his apostles. Don't be afraid. Use your faith, exercise your faith over those situations, those circumstances. He did not say they had no faith; he said little faith, meaning it needs to grow. Like muscle building, the muscles start small, weak, and flabby, but because of use, they grow strong. If you don't use the muscles, they atrophy and waste away, but when opposition comes, the storms and waves of life come, and they can be scary. Exercise your faith. You do have faith; go into the gym, lift those weights/faith over those storms and those cares, and grow strong: You strong men and women. You have power and authority over them. Follow my example Jesus is saying. Go to the front of those challenges, look at them, speak to them, and shout out Peace Be Still.
Knowing and following God's word and his examples: It Is the ANSWER. It is the way to happiness, true joy, and abundant life.
A prayer:
Father, you are the God of my life, and I lift you high, exalt you, and give you thanks. You are Lord; you rule and reign over my life. I choose the way of your word and choose your paths, Lord, for it is the right way to live, obeying your commands with all my heart. I want my life to bring you glory. Father, let me know your ways; give me an understanding of you so I will not steer from your truth. Open my knowledge to your wisdom, and I will meditate deeply on your splendor and wonders.
Lord, your words strengthen and encourage me. Please help me to cling to your truths, your commands. Let me walk in the splendor light of all you teach me. Lord, I do not want to make a mess of my life. I seek you, Lord. I am running after you. Make me obedient to you, to your ways, your truths. Guide me in paths that please you. Help keep my vision and focus pure and free from illusion. I only want what is true. Drench my soul with life, light, love, joy, peace, happiness, and Great fulfillment as I run after you and choose you. Your promises are true.
In Jesus' Name: AMEN.
